Mom-Mom's Double Header

One thing was made clear in early July, when Mom-Mom gets quiet, you might want to get the net. Mom caught two keepers in late June and early July. One was caught on the Get Sum and one on the Happy Ours.

Biggest Doormat So Far

Never had we caught more than 1 keeper per trip on the Happy Ours, that all changed on Saturday as we braved a small craft warning. Seth and I started out in theThoroughfare and after many wind aided drifts we hit our first fish a 17.5 inch flounder that hit as we crossed the channel. We weren't ready with the net so I just flipped it over the rail. The next two fish were caught in the East channel which was somewhat protected by the northeast wind. The 23 inch, 4.4 pound fish was pulled up while we slow trolled at during a pause in the tide. We took the bounty to Oyster Bay Tackle shop to be weighed and photographed. They featured us in their fishing report and gallery (shown below).

Memorial Day

On the Happy Ours with Amy, her mom Sharon and Noah I heard the drag being pulled. I quickly grabbed the rod, set the hook and started reeling. I knew this was a big fish and yelled "grab the net." Amy held the net and nervously netted the fat fish. "Chomper," as he was named by Noah and Amy, weighed in at 3.5 pounds, just under 20 inches. This was my heaviest flounder yet. Noah had a great time fishing and playing with the bait can't wait for more trips with him in the future. Posted by Picasa

The Keeper of My Heart

On Memorial Weekend of 2008 we headed out for some flounder fishing on the Assawomen Bay. We drifted off of a small island behind 9th street and I hooked into a big flattie. When it crested the surface I knew it was my biggest ever but was it a keeper. With the new flounder regulations set at 17 and 1/2 inches I wasn't sure but as we measured it I was proud to have landed the Happy Ours first keeper at 18 and 1/2 inches. I fileted it with a little help from some old fisherman friends and wrapped it in the crabmeat from the crabs we caught the day before. It was one great meal that made me feel like a Marylander. Check out a variety of the catches we've had in our Happy Ours Fish Pics Gallery http://picasaweb.google.com/mattworks88/FishPics#
